Inflation-indexed bonds can only be allocated to registered tender counterparties (mainly financial institutions) in a government bond tender. The minimum amount that may be issued in a tender is $1 million.
Some of these institutions may make government bonds available in smaller parcels to individual customers. The minimum amount that may be offered in these circumstances is $1,000 and multiples of $1,000 after that. Any such offer or on-sale of inflation-indexed bonds to members of the New Zealand public must be made under the Product Disclosure Statement.
If you are an individual investor and would like to know more about investment in government bonds, you should consult your investment adviser in the first instance.
